A secluded, luxury cottage with private hot tub, nestled in the wooded Combes of the beautiful Quantock Hills

This delightful and unique octagonal property, formerly an 18th-century smallholder's cottage, nestles in an idyllic and peaceful setting. The property is very rural and secluded, situated by a babbling stream and a wonderful waterfall in a pretty wooded combe right in the heart of the Quantock Hills.

It is surrounded by its own large garden and National Trust woodland, with the famous Coleridge Way just at the end of the drive, and miles and miles of endless walks right from the doorstep. There is a fantastic selection of British wildlife with buzzards, badgers, red deer, foxes, rabbits and a pair of friendly dippers who have a nest next to the waterfall. The cottage garden has a pretty stream with a waterfall, and a private cedar wood hot tub on the patio, perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring.

Reached via an unmade track and over a footbridge, this is a rural idyll and makes a perfect holiday hideaway for couples and families alike. Superb for mountain biking, walking, bird watching and horse riding, or just kicking back and relaxing, it really is a little slice of heaven.

The cottage is a short drive (or a fabulous 3 mile walk along the Coleridge Way) from the village of Nether Stowey, with its range of shops, cafes and pubs, and the fossil rich beach at Kilve is just over a mile away.

The Quantocks are an area of wilderness and tranquillity. Panoramic views lead you through coast, heath and coombe. Explore and you will find rocky Jurassic coastline, exposed heathland summits, deep wooded coombes, undulating farmland and attractive villages all within this protected landscape.

The Quantock Hills were the first place in England to be designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

In the late 1790s, the Romantic poets Samuel Taylor Coleridge and William Wordsworth spent a year in the Quantocks, getting inspiration for many of their most famous works from their walks in this lovely area.

"There is everything here: sea, woods wild as fancy ever painted, brooks clear and pebbly, villages so romantic"

      - The Quantock Hills, described so rapturously by Dorothy Wordsworth when she came here in 1797 have changed very little since that time.

      The Somerset region

Somerset is a county of captivating contrasts, described by the ancient Welsh Celts and the Saxons as the Land of the Summer People. Somerset is perhaps best known for its festivals such as the world famous Glastonbury festival or the magnificent illuminated carnival in Bridgwater but it also has a calendar full of smaller local celebrations ranging from the arty to the agricultural.

If it is peace and quiet you are after there are the wild moors and dark skies of the National Park of Exmoor to consider or the mysterious Somerset Levels where you can cycle or stroll and literally see for miles.

The County is rich in wildlife and ranks among the UK's top places for birdwatching, particularly in the winter months when it welcomes visiting wildfowl in vast numbers.

You can let the train take the strain if you prefer and climb aboard the West Somerset Stream Train, the longest standard gauge heritage railway in the country, go pony trekking or mountain biking on the hills or explore the fossil rich local coastline.

If you like walking you can follow in the footsteps of the poet Coleridge along the route that takes his name or trail along any of the many hills, rivers and waterways that cross the County.
